After three successful tracks for promoting Estrella Damm’s beer,
which have been for many the song of the summer, the company just uploaded
their new campaign with the song You can’t say no forever – Lacrosse filmed at
Serra de Tramuntana, balearic islands.
It all began with Summercat, followed by Applejack, then I wish that
I could see you soon and this year’s song is You can't say no forever, they all
present a similar significance of summer related to freedom, happiness and love
or friendships.
However, many argue that none of Estrella Damm’s songs are actually
that successful and therefore they do not represent the song of the summer.
What do you think about this? Do you think they have actually become
official summer songs? Or not? Which song do you like the most? And dislike?

ReplyDeleteI just saw it last night on television and I was pretty disappointed. I was expecting it to be much juicier but this year’s advertisement isn’t as good as the last ones. However, this is a great way to introduce these places to people and in this case, to get to know the marvelous breathtaking views of Mallorca. However, it was uploaded on Thursday to Youtube by Estrella Damm and right now has 795188 visits already. Isn’t this amazing?
ReplyDeleteAbout the songs, I guess that they try to choose songs which have a catchy chorus and from my point of view I think that the first one, Summercat, was the best by far. I think I’ve probably chosen this one because I also feel more identified with the advertisement, as I spend lots of time in Formentera during the summer.
Although I may not like as much this new campaign, I still believe that it represents a story where youngsters are having fun, are happy and fall in love. I would agree that this is what summer is about, being free and having a great time with your friends in order to forget about all the stress accumulated during all year.
I would say that Estrella Damm songs are condsidered summer songs as everyone knows them and sings them, dispite this, I wouldn’t say they are the “summer song” meaning the best one, we can usally hear better songs on the radio during the summer. As Judith says, the most succesful was Summercat, the first one they made, and as years go by I think that they are getting worse.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, it looks like as if the porpuse of the advert was promoting the islands rather than advertising the beer. It makes people want to go to the islands on holiday more than drinking beer.
Anyway, the adverts have become very famous and people watch them a lot, so they surely help the company to sell the beers, what after all, is what they want. They have to go through a lot of truble and invest lots of money to film the adverts though.

After listening to this song I must say that I was very disappointed. Estrella Damm is now quite famous because of their summer songs and summer adverts, as when this first happened, two years ago, the public was impressed and surprised for this new advertising method.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I personally think they’ve gone too far with it, and every year is getting worse. When they first started, with Summercat, everyone enjoyed this song as it was terrific. After that, people had high expectations of the new advert and the new song, but most people’s expectations were broken as it wasn’t as good as the previous one.
Despite this attitude, the song became one of the summer songs last year. But this year the song has just screwed everything, as it is not catchy or even as cheerful as people expected. So I guess this song won't be this summer song. I think this is because they are trying to do as good as the first one, but they haven’t achieved that yet.
First of all I would like to start by saying that I’m a big fan of all these estrella damm adverts, but it’s also true as Carla mentioned before that as the years go by, the adverts get worse and it makes it harder for the new ones to outshine the previous ones. But I personally think that all adverts are good in their own way and they achieve their main purpose which is convey summer feelings and leave you with the urge to drink a cold beer. We have to bare in mind that it is not easy to find a good song from an unknown artist, and this is the challenge the producers have to face in order to maintain the interest in their costumers and fans.
ReplyDeleteI personally think that the first advert from Formentera succeeded the most at trying to convey the feelings of the summer, and the song was without a shadow of a doubt the best one of all four.
Estrella Damm summer campaigns have always an impact on society (at least on Spanish people). Their new adverts are always compared to their last ones which means people still remember those old adverts of theris. In my opinion their songs are catchy and very carefully decided and I personally always like them and download the songs however they don't reflect what summer means to me. I don't have any particular favourite song or a least favourite one. One song that sounds as if it came from there (but it actually hasn't) is "Breakfast at Tiffany's", it has the same musical style as the ones they use.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I really like about these adverts is that they give unknown artists the chance of being recognised amongst young people who are their largest target.
