Hello! I came
across this video in youtube and I thought it would be interesting to share it here.
A company called STA Travel sent three friends on a journey of 44 days, in
which they visited 10 countries, travelled 38000 miles and got 18 flights. All the
essence of the journey was transferred into this 1 minute video. I hope you
enjoy it! (because I really did!)
Now answer
the following questions:
Do you
enjoy travelling?
What do you
think are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so?
And finally, what place
in the world would you really like to visit?
Yes, I really enjoy travelling.
ReplyDeleteIt’s an experience which I believe is always worthwhile. In my opinion, travelling broadens your horizons and makes you more open minded, which is always positive. Because, as a matter of fact, getting in contact with people from other cultures will make your knowledge wider and will probably make you think twice about some of the values of the society you live in. In addition, visiting new places and meeting with different people is always a stimulating and fulfilling experience, since it’s always very exciting. Therefore, the experiences that you live when travelling are unique and will teach you lessons that you wouldn’t learn in your daily routine. Moreover, not only do you learn a lot when travelling, but you also develop a sense of adapting to new environments. This will make you more responsible and mature. Besides, travelling will allow you to contemplate totally different lifestyles from yours, making you appreciate your lifestyle (in some occasions) but at the same time making you question yourself about your own life.
Nevertheless, travelling does have disadvantages. For example, it’s normally quite expensive to travel, and therefore many people can’t afford it. But, contrasting with this last statement, travelling can be made economic. I think that many people seem to think that the best places to visit are those that are the most far away or the most expensive. I always think that this isn’t true, as, for example, Spain has beautiful places to go to. These places are sometimes extremely underestimated when compared to destinations like New York or the Caribbean (but it can result positively because therefore no one goes there and you can end up in a beautiful place, isolated and lacking the usual tourist crowds!). Therefore, I think that sometimes some destinations are, in some way, stereotyped, in the sense that people think that those unreachable destinations are far better than those which are payable and affordable.
Going back to the question, I think that another disadvantage is the fact that sometimes visiting other countries means that you have to vaccinate and are at risk of getting some serious illnesses. But I believe that being prudent and careful will avoid you any unwanted and undesirable surprises.
Therefore, travelling is a constructive and fun experience which I believe will always result positively on the adventurer that decides to go around the world!
Personally, I’ve always enjoyed more visiting places that are unlike Barcelona. In other words, since I live in the city I always prefer to visit destinations which are different and offer more amazing landscapes (for me), as a contrast of those which I’m used to seeing. Although I’ve visited Andalucia, I’ve always wanted to visit it in more depth, going to those small and welcoming villages which profoundly maintain Spanish traditions. Also, in the future I would like to visit Namibia and an island called Reunion, because I think that the stunning sceneries which nature offers would leave me flabbergasted, amazed and speechless.

I love traveling. I love traveling all around the world. I love it, first of all because I am not that kind of homesick and also because I like to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Moreover, knowing new cultures it’s what I like most from traveling because I get the chance to know new people and their way of living.
ReplyDeleteAll cities have something beautiful: sometimes it boasts museums, breath taking views, a history behind it, etc. But that is what I find more interesting from traveling, and in fact, what I like to discover myself. Let me explain, don’t you go to a country and then compare it to another one you saw before? Well, if not, that’s what I do. And that’s the second aspect I like most of traveling, the fact of knowing myself what makes that city important.
As an advantage of traveling I personally think that the shock of cultures, the chance to meet new people and places is what I like of it. However, traveling as fun it could sound, boasts negative aspects such as being away from your family, missing your own country or friends, and that’s what it takes traveling.
I personally love everything that has to do with tourism. But if I were to choose countryside or city I would say the first one, country side, although visiting countries could be so nice I would rather walk into the forest for hours to find spectacular views. Let me be clear, It’s not that I don’t like cities, it’s that I prefer the country side when traveling myself alone. But when I travel with friend or my family the city is much nice to visit with their company.
If I was given the choice to travel wherever and whenever I want I would probably go to where I lived in New England, Vermont because I felt truly in love with this State. Not only for the kind of life I had there with all my friends, teachers or dorm parents, but also because I loved that place surrounded by trees as its name says in French (vert-mont). Moreover, although the weather was so horrible in winter, in summer it was so nice. The trees of the long walk (street) were all flourishing into different tones just like pink, white, yellow, etc. And all those yellow and red maple trees all around, it was beautiful. I’ve never seen (since I came back) I place like that, and that’s where, as I said, I would go if I would be given the choice.

Travel is a passion. Travel is an adventure. Travel is a way of escaping from our daily routine.
ReplyDeletePeople tend to love traveling, because knowing other cultures provides a personal enrichment and is a way of expanding your horizons.
So what does traveling mean for me? It is a pleasure to visit other places around the world, countries which have other ways of living and other traditions. This provides a better vision of the world, as you become capable of understanding other societies and your empathy widens. You can also appreciate other landscapes which may not be common in your country, such as: far-away desserts, soaring mountains, seas of turquoise blue, endless beaches...
Despite these advantages, however, there are also drawbacks. You may become more independent and sure of yourself by traveling, though the more you do so, you family tie might slightly break. It is also very expensive, and I think it shouldn’t since many people don’t have the opportunity to enjoy traveling because of this. How come, learning other cultures can be so expensive? Does this mean that only people with a high salary can have the chance to travel? This is totally unfair. Everyone should be able to obtain a better knowledge of other countries and have the availability of escaping from their day- to- day life.
Where would I like to go? This is a very general question, and difficult to answer. As for me, every place in the world is interesting in its own way and therefore I'd love to visit each part of it. Though, if I had to give a prompt reply, a place where I’d like to go would basically be a far away island, in the middle of nowhere, where no technological devices were allowed, and I'd go alone, just me and the sound of the waves...
As I'm writing these words, my imagination looses itself into a world of dreams, where I'm capable of drifting away of my school life and appearing in the most exotic and incredible places around the world. Maybe, as I grow older, my urge to travel is accomplished and my purchasing power allows me to obtain my wish.
I love travelling around the world as there are so many things you can see, so many different people you can know and so many things to learn about. Travelling is disconnecting from your daily basis and letting yourself go freely around your destination without anyone telling you what to do. The interesting part in travelling is learning from other people which are totally different in culture, language…
ReplyDeleteThe advantages of travelling are knowing new people, learning new cultures, having different food, being free and experiencing new ways of living.
The disadvantage are wasting a great deal of money, not knowing where to go, loosing yourself, not being received as you would have been expecting it to be and losing your luggage…
I really like to visit Santo Domingo because it is my ideal place to live in. In Santo Domingo, the combination of sun, beach and chill is perfect. It is the best place of chilling out as the views are spectacular, the people are charming and the music transmits tranquility.

Nature is fascinating; travelling can make you understand that magnificence is not in human’s hands. I personally love travelling. It’s difficult explaining the feelings that visiting a country may produce; nevertheless, I don’t think that I could describe them better than the one-minute video filmed by those three friends.
ReplyDeleteWe normally enjoy discovering hidden places in the world and that simple action may be the one that leads to unexpected feelings. However, what pushes us to travel is the ambition of knowing more about our unlimited world. As all of the comments above mention, discovering different cultures is what wakes up our curiosity and urge of facing adventures. As Ana said, being open-minded is something essential in life, but not many people are able to push apart their strict believes.
Travelling has, unfortunately, many disadvantages. In order to travel to many places you must be independent, which means that you should stay away from responsibilities and this fact may lead to immaturity. Not building up a firm life may be a consequence of wanting to establish your own objectives. Moreover, money is something indispensible when travelling, so working can’t be pushed away. Now, it’s very difficult stay away from responsibilities when having a job.
I haven’t visited enough places or made enough research to determine the one place in the world I’d like to visit. However, I’ve visited many places in Europe and I’d like to continue doing so. As many people dream, I suppose I’d love to feel the sun in my skin whilst lying in the sand of an exotic island, however, it’s not my primordial aim in life as I consider knowing different cultures as essential.

ReplyDeleteTravelling to me represents the contact one has with the rest of humanity. It is the chance to braoden one's horizon's and the chance to experience life just as it is. It is one of those rare pleasures life has to offer which involves a cultural exchange and offers a unique experience to those who are eager and yet desperate to fathom life beyond recognition.
ReplyDeleteWhat I love about travelling is simply observing how humankind is the same, yet idealogically so distinct and diverse. I find it completely mindblowing that every nation in the world has a language that enables people to communicate with eachother.I actually can't believe that what I am hearing is a language, simply beacuse I can't understand it! But those speaking it comprehend it perfectly and they must think the same about my language!
The advantages of travelling have already been stated by my classmates but I would like to add my personal, unique view.
As far as I'm concerned (and widely based on my own experiences) through travel you can be part of a wild adventure that only occurs in fantasy books. Through travel you can free yourself from the world and even from yourself and explore the earth in an exciting, interactive, unpredicatble and knowledgeable way.
When I went to Africa I remember interacting with my mama and being in awe with the way she lived her life down from the most meticulous aspect such as the way she cooked rice, to the things she explained to me, such as how she celebrated her wedding. What I gained from this was indisputable awareness, a more open mind and happiness beyond recognition.
The disadvantages of travelling I believe are few. I mean, what negative things can one possibly see in learning about the world?
Let me state that "to travel" is expensive and therefore a disadvantge for those who wish to see the world but cannot. But the actual action of "travelling" presents no disadvantages as far as I'm concerned. The two terms are commonly fused together though their meanings are different, because interacting with someone else or staring at a beautiful monument is not negative at all. What is negative is everything that has to be done to to experience these things and this usually involves financial issues.
Now to the last question:
Thankfully, I have already travelled extensively but I do wish to express my growing interest and fascination for the countries of the north. Places like Greenland, Sweden, Finland and specifically Lapland (a region in Norway) completely appeal to me as they are cold, lonesome and distant areas on the geographical map which undoubtadly seem gorgeous, green (at summer) and melancholic. They present the perfect places to enjoy nature and become aware of what life has to offer.
Other places that I would love to visit are those where the spirit and essence of humanity is most pronounced. Where humans who are living as humans and who are happy to be humans celebrate with colours, music and smiling faces in a local festival. I know it sounds very much like a utopian suggestion and even naive, but I firmly believe this could happen in moments when humans reject their day to day problems and celebrate life.
Travel for me means the world, as it’s a way of breaking your daily routine and expand your knowledge of cultures. Travel approaches to everyone and it is for sure the most beneficial activity you can practice. Travel is for ones the only opportunity for relaxing in a luxurious hotel, in my opinion, this is rather tedious and slothful, grey and mind-numbing. So what does travel mean to me?
ReplyDeleteTravel for me is the most mind-opening and learning experience of all. It encourages you to act by yourself and gives you the most valuable opportunity of live – get to know the self in you, as you can give time for it and you learn from the way you act and talk in surroundings which are not common for you.
Travel is the one thing in life which I personally consider that has no disadvantages or inconvenient. It allows you to learn, expand and develop your knowledge of life. It offers you powerful tools such as self-dependence, intelligence and maturity – tools that unfortunately not everyone can perceive over their lifetime.
STA Travel Agency made a fantastic video that was breath taking and joyful. It illustrates in a refreshing and intelligent way the essence of travel. Personally, I felt like packing and leaving straight away to grasp the world by myself. It shows stunning views and the way which the images have been put together gives the viewer an aspiration of pure air, which full fill’s our body with peace and individualism.
Fortunately, there is no place in the world which I would prefer visiting over another. Since I was six years old when I travelled for my first time to Egypt I knew for sure that I had to travel the world – alone or with company – because every place on earth was beautiful and gave a magnificent view of what humanity could really offer.

I love travelling. For me, travelling means many things. It means getting in touch with other parts of the world and with other cultures, it means learning from things or from people that you’ve never seen, it means visiting places that you’ve never been to and it means getting away from your daily routine. Travelling is a synonym of not wasting your time.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, travelling is one of the most enjoyable things that you can do, as it has uncountable advantages, and for me, nearly no disadvantages.
Firstly, by travelling you can learn a handful of things, as you are in constant contact with cultures and people, and you experience things that you don’t live in your everyday life. Travelling, can be a way of self-enrichment, although this can depend of the place where you go to and what you want to do there. When you travel to places which are different to where you live, you realise that there’s a huge contrast with how some people live and with how we live here. I consider that this is a really interesting fact and something that can make us see things from a different point of view, as you get to know other cultures and talk to people who see things differently from the people who you are with normally. Wherever you go, you will gain a different experience, and the more you travel the more knowledge you will gain from this.
Secondly, travelling is really entertaining, regardless the place that you are visiting or what your plan is there. I think that nearly every place where you can travel has something positive and that wherever you go, there’s something to do or a way of investing your time. For me, every place has its own entertainment, and this can vary from visiting monuments, to relaxing in a beach or to visiting places that no one has been to.
Finally, travelling is a way of escaping from the pressure that we feel on our day-to-day life, and I think that this is quite gratifying as you can forget and leave at home all of your responsibilities while visiting parts of the world.
Answering the last question, there are lots of places where I would like to travel. Certainly, I prefer travelling to places which are not similar to Barcelona, places where people live in a different way compared to us. I like places where nature has been untouched by humans, and where you can enjoy amazing landscapes that you would have never imagined before going there.
Someday, I would like to visit India or the countries near it, I would like to visit places in Africa such as South Africa and I would also like to go to South America, to a country like Brasil.
Travelling is one of my hobbies in life, even though I do not travel a lot, I think that it’s one of the best thing that someone can do. If I were to have the money necessary to do it I would spend my life travelling. As you girls said before, travelling is a way of escaping from your daily routine. This is totally true. Nowadays we seem to live the same everyday, with little and insignificant changes that are hardly noticeable, reason why we get bored of our own lives. So what should people do when they realize that they want to change that routine? Travel.
ReplyDeleteTravelling doesn’t always mean getting an airplane and going to the other part of the world. For me, travelling is taking time for yourself and visit places where you’ve never been before. Sometimes we don’t realize how marvelous is something and we have it in front of us!
When you travel you find out that such a thing has advantages and disadvantages, for example, you learn about new cultures and you also take practice of different languages but having to pack your belongings in a suitcase and spending hours in airports or buses is no fun at all. Moreover, depending on your destination you can relax and have time for yourself but in other cases get even more stressed than what you normally are because you get out of control.
If I had to travel now, I would choose Punta Cana as my favorite destination. It is a calm place, where you can enjoy the beach, the sun, the people and above all, a whole new culture. It’s a good place where you can disconnect and find different things without being distracted by the first world technologies. It’s true that it is a touristic place but it is far more enjoyable than other places where you can’t even walk because of the large number of people.
All in all I would say once again that I totally recommend an activity like travelling because as far as I know the disadvantages brought in by such an activity are nothing compared to the advantages you receive once you’ve done it. Because believe me, once you’ve tried It you never want to stop.
