Italian star, Mario Balotelli, is back in the news.

Balotelli says he'll "kill" anyone who racially abuses him.

Mario Balotelli, the Italy forward, has said today he will notpermit any offensive or racist attacks during the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine and declared that if he is subject to any ofense by a racist fan he will "walk off the pitch and go home". He also said he would "kill someone and go to jail" if anyone threw a banana at him, when he was training they throught him one. "Racism is unacceptable to me. We are in 2012. This should not happen anymore" SuperMario finished with this words.

What do you think about balotelli's words? And about racism?

  1. Even though I am not a great football fan, I was pretty amazed and listened carefully when I saw Balotelli press conference in the news.
I personally think he has all the rights to defend himself against any kind of rude offensive racists comments. We live in the twenty first century were racism should be a thing of the past, but the reality is that it’s not always the case. As a famous football player, his words have even more meaning as he has more power to influates people. All those who stand against racism probably thought that just “walking of the pitch home” wouldn’t be enough and they would probably encourage him to take legal action.
However, the fact that he would kill anyone who threw a banana at him, I think this is a bit over the top. He shouldn’t do the same to the ignorant people who offend him because it means he reaches their level of immature and it’s pretty sad. Also it’s better to resolve these types of things with the authority as they can punish, hopefully in a fair way, all the racists, and also Balotelli avoids any problems. If he gets physically involved, it could cost him his job as a football player and maybe he wouldn’t be able to play in another league ever.
I hope there are no incidents and this doesn’t happen, because, what has this man done?

  2. I totally agree with Ballotelli`s words.
Although his words seem really aggressive and not well seen by football supporters, Ballotelli is defending himself from people who consider him a kind of “monkey” by the fact of being black.
Ballotelli comes from a non-wealthy family, what means that his education hasn`t been the best that he could receive. So I think that his lack of education mixed with his revulsion to racist actions (such as throwing him bananas to the football field), makes him say things that he verily he doesn`t mean, such as “killing someone“.
As you clear stated Jose, we are in 2012, an era of evolution in all aspects. So from my point of view, nowadays, racism (even though it stays alive in some bad educated people) is something that must disappear, something which goes against Humans Rights, something unnatural.
So instead of disrespecting players for their skin color, praise their skills in pitch and enjoy a sport which groups people worldwide, football.

  3. I am a fan of Balotelli's football but I don't agree with what’s Mario said in the conference. I think that for solve all the problems of racism there's many better ways than killing.
Surely Mario has to sanctioned with this words because they are very aggressive and direct.

  4. I don’t think Balotelli should be sanctioned as I think he hasn’t said anything wrong as who is forewarned is forearmed. He could say things much softer as I don’t thing saying he will kill people is normal, but I understand him perfectly. Thanks for commenting!

  5. It is a funny quote and maybe unusual but coming from Mario Balotelli it is not as strange as if any other player had said it. I have made some research and found some of the things he has done recently to give people an idea of how he is:
-One night he won 25,000 pounds in a casino. Coming out, he gave away 1,000 pounds to a homeless.

-Rescued a child who was suffering from bullying.

-After burning his house he became the image of a campaign to prevent the use of fireworks.

-He said that Messi was only "a little better" than him and that he was better than the rest of the players.

-He took his iPad to the bench during a friendly match with Italy.
    - He saw Jennifer Thompson in a luxurious restaurant in Manchester, the prostitute who was about to end with Rooney’s marriage. Balotelli started chanting 'Rooney, Rooney' while laughing to provoke Jennifer and her companion, with whom he almost came to blows. The waiters had to separate them.
After reading some of these you can get an idea of how he is and what he said about killing someone is not that shoking.
