Bermuda Triangle

This is the first part of a National Geographic documentary about the Bermuda Triangle. Have a look and answer the following questions! :

Do you believe in the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle?
Or do you think it’s just causality?
If you had to fly to the United States, would you rather avoid the area?

  1. The whole Bermuda triangle issue about the mysterious and unaccountable disappearance of boats and planes has been racking the brains of skeptics for many years. But is it really a mystery? Or can these happenings be explained by science?

Personally, I don’t believe in any supernatural or other mystical cause attributed to the vanishings which happened in that area many years ago, although some may sound captivating such as the “alien abduction” theories, I most definitely stick to the scientific and rational causes behind them. Amongst these, I think the most reasonable explanations are the following; the abnormally strong magnetic field present in the area that pulls the planes towards the ground, which, considering the fact that planes did not fly as high back then, should not be discarded, and the other reason is the amount of algae on the sea bed which releases large quantities of methane that interfere with the air and sea modifying their density resulting in the plummeting of planes and the sinking of boats.

In addition, the fact that nowadays thousands of planes fly over the Bermuda triangle and not a single crash has been recorded for years proves that this was due to these reasons, it was all a massive coincidence, or it was simply a myth. Therefore, if I were to travel to the United States, I wouldn’t be at all concerned about flying over the triangle.

  2. Certainly, the Bermuda Triangle is to some degree enigmatic.
I don’t think that it´s normal nor causality that such an abundant number of boats and aeroplanes have disappeared there while crossing it, but on the other hand, like Lucas, I don’t believe in strange stories, as I prefer thinking that there’s a scientific explanation behind it that hasn’t been proved already.
If I had to fly to the United States, I don’t think I would care crossing it, as nowadays I haven’t heard of a boats and aeroplanes vanishing away, and I think that there’s more security now than many years ago.

  3. For many years this subject of the Bermuda Triangles have been struggling my head loads of times. Some people think it's some strange of unnatural force that makes boats sink and the planes fall. But, if this is true, how is it possible?

I think that there's not soo many evidences to show that this is true and the safety of the aeroplanes and ships has highly increased but actually if I could avoid passing through the Bermuda Triangles i would gadly do it!

  4. I personally don't believe in the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. I believe that the numerous disappearances of planes and boats have taken place due to the rough and dangerous weather characteristic of the area (at some points during the year). I don't think there is any supernatural force that has caused this. Neither do I believe in the existence of aliens and UFOs.

Therefore, like Lucas, I would rather stick to the scientific explanations which have been given. I agree with the fact that many years ago, planes did not fly as high, and therefore the large quantities of methane released by the sea algae and the strong magnetic field of the Bermuda Triangle made the planes more susceptible of plummeting and the boats more susceptible of sinking, giving place to disappearances.

I certainly would not be preoccupied if I had to fly over the Bermuda Triangle. Nowadays, many planes as well as boats pass through the area without any problem, which portrays the fact that many boats and planes have not disappeared when going through the Bermuda Triangle.

  5. I personally don’t believe in the mystery about the Bermuda Triangle. I must say, though, that I have been thinking about this issue loads of times. I actually find it a bit scary.

But really, think about it. I think that the fact of boats and planes dissapearing in that area is not some myth matter, but, as Ana Adán said, are due to rough and dangerous weather conditions that sorround that specific area.

I consider myself as being quite supersticious, so, having to fly to the United States, i would rather avoid flying through the Bermuda Triangle than going missing

  6. I agree with everything that Paulina has mentioned above, as I think that the fact of loads of boats and planes dissapearing in a specific area is quite scary.
I don’t believe that this dissapearences are caused by supernatural or mystical causes, but I believe that, as Laura said, there is a cientific explanation behind this dissapearances.
However, I would rather belive that they are caused by rough and dangerous weather conditions, so there is nothing to be scared about.
I personally am a supersticious person, so I would rather stay in the plane for a couple of hours more than flying above the Bermuda Triangle.

  8. Myths and legends have always caused a great interest in people. It sounds even more attractive when there are reasons for which these could be true and that is what sometimes pushes people too far in believing in these paranormal theories. The Bermuda Triangle is certainly one of the most famous.
I personally agree with Lucas’ scientific explanation of the phenomena. The fact that nowadays modern planes do not crash clearly confirms it. It is not strange though, that in the past this mystique aura was attributed to the B.T. as those constant plane crashes and boat sinks would have, in a scientifically less advanced context, raised suspicion about paranormal activity.

  9. Having read all the comments above, I actually have to react against many opinions and points of view.

The truth is that the whole Bermuda Triangle has kept intrigue throughout many years. Normally, we might prefer to ignore the scientific facts behind it and to ignore that there are actual cases of disappearances. Of course that this whole situation has the power enough to build up insecurity amongst us, but I rather prefer to confront situations and learn to deal with the truth upon us.

Scientifics support the idea that the Philadelphia experiment that was carried out by the US army is the only responsible for this occurrence. However, Hindu Puranas and plenty other religious leaders upkeep the possibility that some kind of supernatural force is present in that area. The idea that it’s the door to the outer space has even been supported!

In conclusion, what I’m explain is that nevertheless the countless excuses they can bring up with, the truth is still not out as, as I’m not by far an eccentric person I would not have to avoid flying over the area.

  10. The issue on the bermuda triangle area is, and will be a disturbing theme for many as evidence seems to suggest that what makes casual boats or plains sink and crash is a scientific cause rather than a mystical matter. Although many skeptics firmly believe on a supernatural force in the area.

From my personal point of view, i can't stand the fact of: "the Triangle is a alien abduction zone which casually, when planes or boat go by interfers them". The number of disasters that have happened in the area is not sufficient to determine that it is a supernatural phenomenon. However, many studies have been and actually proved with absolute certainty that the reason why some ships and planes have been "shot" in the area is due to the huge magnetic field that attracts the aircrafts. Not forgeting the fact that; the last aircraft which falled in the triangle was at least20 years ago and by that time planes did flied lower than today which meant they wear nearer to the magnetic attraction. And more over, the fact that nowadays many of planes fly over the Bermuda triangle and not a single crash has been recorded for years proves that some of those mentioned before could have been the reason and are far away from being a supernatural phenomena.

So, in conclusion, and answering Ana's question if I had to fly to the united states i wouldn't be at all concerned in flying through the bermuda's triangle.
