The great final of the Copa Del Rey is approaching
and there's certain statements causes debate for the two team that are playing
this final, Barcelona and Athletic de Bilbao.
Esperanza Aguirre the PP policy mentioned yesterday
that if there are going to be whistles to the anthem of Spain the match should cancel.
What do you
think about cancelling the match?
Do you think
that hooligans of Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao have rights to have freedom of
expression?
I have to disagree with this post. Basically because from what I’ve heard this isn’t at all what she said. She didn’t claim that this match shouldn’t be played at all, she said that it should be played without any audience, only the players and that’s it. This is curious as some years ago, when there was a rumor that the Spanish anthem was going to be whistled; she then said that “Football is a sport where everyone can share their opinion without any problems”. Is it possible she’s changed her mind in only three years?
ReplyDeleteI guess that this woman doesn’t like football at all, but she pretends to care in order to give a good image. Why should she? She’s only being fake and that doesn’t help at all. As she did these declarations before the game was played and hooligans were very pissed off with her, there were many songs people sang during the match against her, calling her names. I had the chance to be at the stadium and heard it just from the people sitting around me.
I have to say that I share the same opinion as many of them and also what the Spanish Federation said about her statement, that she had no power over football so whatever she said was basically nonsense, so the match was going to be played as planned.

I have to say that despite hating this woman, I think that she is right when she says that it is very bad-mannered and disrespectful to whistle to the Spanish anthem. I agree with her because I am sure that any of the ones that whistled wouldn’t like the Madrid fans whistling to “Els Segadors”. And this is why I don’t agree with the whistle.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I find totally stupid, childish and out of context the fact that Esperanza approved a manifestation against Catalans on the same day that the match was played. The only thing that this could have provoked is a fight between those two groups and a huge number of injured people. Esperanza, once more, has shown his incompetence and his little capacity of thinking.
Anyways, I would also like to say that I don’t disagree with the whistle against the king. I don’t disagree because I can perfectly understand that some people can’t accept that in the twenty first century, someone has privileges over the others just because of “the grace of god”. This medieval belief has obviously disappeared in most of the modern societies, but some countries, like Spain, still retain its conservative ideals. What’s more, if we think about it, the king is actually useless. The point of having a king is to have someone that represents the country, but nowadays, a president can do it the same way, and he is chosen by all the citizens.
In conclusion, I think that both Esperanza and the Barça fans did wrong, so no one can blame the others, as no one would be right. Freedom of expression is a human right, but it dosen’t mean that we can say anything that can hurt someone.

ReplyDeleteI should say that dispite not liking to much these politician I have to say that she is right in a way and very wrong on another.
ReplyDeleteFirstly, I shall say that I can understand that she can not like that people whistle the Spanish Anthem, and that, for her point of view, it may be a lack of respect to our country.
But she may not know that people don't whistle because they like it, maybe because they have something to protest and they are not being listen. If you think it, how many times we have complained about how much we pay if we compare it with other places? How many times they have listen us? Never. Maybe people wanted to make profit of this international event to protest, because, above of all, we have the rights to protest if we don't like how the government acts, it's a Constitution law and it haves to be respected.
Mrs. Esperanza, think about this type of things before you say them because the only thing you have done is motivate them to whistle even more.
Alvaro I don't agree, I think that one of the rights we have in Spain is the free expression and liberty for saying what we think. So I defend that entire people that last Friday whistled, and don't agree absolutely with Experanza Aguirre that the only think she got saying this words is motivating the hooligans to whistle even more.
