SUPERNENAS HIP-HOP

Hip-hop is a very well known type of dance nowadays. It started in the 1970s in the Bronx, in New York City. There are some people who still believe that only black people can dance it and that's not true any more. In Spain there are many national competitions where you can sign up to and participate, though there may be some semi-finals first.

The Supernenas are 10 girls from Sant Adrià del Besós who train during all the year to achieve a final choreography. During the past years, they have won all of the competitions in Spain and the last two years they went to America to try and win the World Championship. In their surprise, this summer in Las Vegas they were thirds! When I first say them dance in Sant Cugat in may, I was amazed as how they all moved together, at the same time, and the intensity of every movement they made. It was...WOW!

So after watching this video, would you say there's a lot of work behind each performance? Or is it easy and simple to achieve such an incredible result?

  1. All the work dancers make and the effort they put into dancing is clearly reflected in their choreographies. How they are able to coordinate and fuse into a whole is what makes the show have an impact on spectators. As a hip-hop dancer, I have had the opportunity to experience this constant work that has to be done in order to create a choreography which stands out, as it is obviously not easy to have a magnificent result which doesn’t leave the audience indifferent.
Dancing does not only mean miming the basic steps, it consists in including your personal style and flow. The attitude shown when dancing is what eventually makes a dancer remarkable, as it is easy to imitate choreography, but you have to make it yours. This is what makes this group different, the originality they introduce in the steps and how they transmit to people the way they take pleasure in dancing.

  2. The effort that the dancers have to do to achieve to make a choreorghaphy like the one that is shown in the vidio is deffenitely enormous. They have to train several hours every single day to be able to cordinate perfectly between them and have the capacityto do a flawless dance. To impress the audience, the dancers have to do each step at the same time and this requires a lot of determination. But it is not only the effort what makes a person be a good dancer, it is also the skills and habilities that one has that can make you succeed. It is also important to consider the outfits and the choice of music to be one of the best, in a worldwide competition, every single detail counts and everything has to be completely perfect.

  3. I used to do Street dance and we were fifteen on the team, and I remember how hard all practices were, so from that experience, I can tell that there’s a lot of practice behind that performance. In my opinion, the more dancers a team has, the more practice they need for a good choreography. But it’s not just that, It’s not only to learn step by step and move quickly, also behind that dance I saw on the video, there is someone who thought of all the steps they could do with that type of music, that’s why I think there’s a lot behind that, because every single step counts, every movement could be the best or the worst, that’s why they need to practice, and of course the time that someone spent thinking of all movements and the type of clothes they should wear and all of that is very important, because that’s a good performance need, dedication.

  4. I agree with the three comments, despite the overall dance seems very easy, I’m sure that these professionals have been working very hard to achieve such level of dancing, .I consider they’ve done hard work as they not only have to know the steps, movements and positions of by heart, but also know the exact timing to be coordinated. Although they have been working hard to achieve they’re final dance I’m sure it’s not as difficult for them to learn the dance compared to people that are clumsy (like me) which will have to do more effort and spend more time to end up with the same results or worst as these dancers are already use to it.

  5. The effort, sweat, persistence, strength, and sacrifice these girls have put in this coreography is inmense. It is not only obvous but outstanding.

I was amazed by the fact that they are nothing less than TEN girls! I don't expect people who don't dance to realise how difficult it is for 10 girls to go to the beat so netly and at the same time. Coordination is not the only thing these should be proud of. For meit is very important this attitude they all have, they play their role, they feel the scent of it. If they believe it you believe it, if you mix that with the technique they spread. Here you have! WINNERS

If I had the chance I would certainly congratulate them, not everyone has been in touch with sacrifice in order to achieve their goals.
