Remedios Cervantes, what a mistake!!!

Sometimes, it's better stay still and look as an idiot, that move and prove it...

Remedios Cervantes, a famous woman, went to 'Atrapa un millón' to participate. She only was helping; she was invited to help, not to do anything else. But she went mad, and in the last second of the last minute, she changes de final answer. That made the real participant loose 5000€.

She didn't have the necessity of doing it, because she wasn't wining anything, but she did it. The other participant went blank when he saw his 5000€ go down. He didn't know what to do.
Finally, the program decided to give another opportunity to the boy, but this time with Remedios Cervantes. The boy then won 10.000€, two times his initial price.
¿Do you think that is fair?
¿Had he had to go with nothing because those are the rules of the program?

  1. As Marc said, it´s better to stay still and look as an idiot than doing something and proving it. I think that that was what Remedios did, she didn´t have the necessity to change of opinion in the last moment but for any reason she did, which made a negative impact in the prize of her partner.
In one hand I think that the program was realistic and saw that it wasn´t the participant´s choice and that he could aim to having another opportunity. But, in the other hand, I think it is quite unfair because the rules of the program are there form something and you have to follow those rules. It is not a very different situation if your partner which is not the participant advices you to change something in the first moment that at the last one…
To finish, I think that he shouldn´t have started all over again, because that way he has another chance to gain more money (an that´s what happened), but continue from the moment before Remedios intervened.

  4. This woman´s action simply looks quite stupid. Knowing how important the prize can be for him, doing this is quite incoherent and has no type of sense. What´s more, the attitude she takes after changing her mind in the last moment is extremely annoying, or at least this is my opinion. However, importance should be rested to this woman. Making fun of her is not a nice thing to do. If only you tried to put into her shoes you would realize the struggles she had after taking that decision.
These are common and usual situations in this kind of programs. The building up of tension makes this error more palpable, but I think we shouldn´t remark this one over others. Changing of topic, the rules are there to be followed and what happened is totally fair. This risky decision Remedios took could have meant wining the prize so repeating it again is unfair if you follow the rules. Obviously you feel sorry for Mario, but this is the inequitable part of games, you sometimes loose without deserving it.

  5. It's so unfair!! I completely agree, if you say that the guy doesn't have any kind of fault, in fact, he was saying the correct answer, but this are the rules of the game, this is life. Don't think I'm cruel or something like that, but the guy went to 'Atrapa un millón' knowing the rules, and overall knowing that he would have a helper as Remedios. He knew he was going to play with Remedios, with its advantages and disadvantages, and if he accepted, he has to cope with any kind of consequences.
However, if I could, I would change a bit the rules of the game, because the helper, Remedios, is just there to attract more audience, and the money doesn't affect her on any aspect, so I wouldn't give her the permission to change such an important decision. Moreover, I would accept and listen to her opinion, but don't let her touch my money!

  6. In my opinion what Remedios did was unnecessary; like Marc explains, she was invited to the program to help and not to participate fully. What she did was very risky and the consequences of her act affected the participant which is unfair. I think that she should have tried to contain herself, because even if her intentions were good, her role in the program was to discuss with the participant what answer to choose; and what she did was make a decision without consulting him first – which is very risky.

On the other hand, I don’t think that she should be called an idiot. If the situation has turned out well, and the answer she chose had been the correct one the spectators’ reaction would have been very different, she would probably have been called a heroine and would be praised by the public. But again, she took an unnecessary risk, and now must face the consequences.

Apart from this, I think that the programs “solution” to the situation was adequate; they gave the contestant another chance to win as well as doubling the prize. In my opinion this is fair since, due to a terrible mistake, he lost everything and will have to experience once again all the tension and nerves that being in a television contest implies.

  7. This program is about a contestant who has to guess a series of questions whilst betting an amount of money in the answer he thinks might be the correct one. As you probably now, it consists in trying to win the maximum amount of money possible by hardly failing any question. This is what the contestant has to do, but through the game, he has a special help who is a famous person who can orientate them in case of doubt, but in case they get money for that so the final decision is always the contestant’s one as it’s his money at stake.
At the last question Remedios changes the money from one answer to the other just at the last second leaving the contestant no chance to react. Unfortunately, she goes wrong, but, as Marina said: what if she had got it right? People would have seen her as a heroine.
From my point of view, I think this game depends on your general knowledge but also luck is an important factor, so, Remedios went wrong on that one and she shouldn’t have moved the money as she was only the help. In any case, I think the contestant shouldn’t be given a second chance as he already knew what a help entailed and the possible risks it supposed, for example: changing the money without the contestant approving it, giving a wrong advice... He knew the rules and with what he was playing with, so yes, it was an unfortunate move from Remedios’s part, but the help provided can sometimes advice you correctly or sometimes incorrectly, that is part of the game.
