Marshall Bruce Mathers,known as Eminem became popular whith his debut album which was released on 1999,along with his second,"The Marshall Mathers LP",and third,"The Eminem show", all of them won Grammy awards,making Eminem the first artist to win the Best Rap Album for three consecutive times."The Marshall Manners LP" is considered one of Eminem's best and most succesful albums. He released his fifth album titles "Encore",few years later he released his sixth album titled "Relapse".In 2010 he released his seventh album "Recovery". Recovery was an international succes and was named the best selling album of 2010 worldwide.
His songs aren't the typical commercial songs were lyrics doesn't mind at all,in my opinion the key of his success its the lyrics of his songs,every verse of his sings has sense and in each of his songs he tries to explain us something important. Some of his songs deal with the society,he expresses his opinion about the society without any worries,this makes the listener to rhink about the society.
Eminem had a very dificult childhood,his mum was a junkie and they didn't have any money so they lived in a mobile home,they lived in lots of cities.Also during his adolescence Eminem suffered attacks from a bully,one of them left Eminem in coma for 5 days. The reason why he never mentions his dad on his songs is because he abandoned him when he was young so for Eminem he doesn't have dad.One common theme on his songs is his daughters, the song "When i'm gone" it's dedicated to one of his daughters,he express the importance of his daughter for him and the desire of spending more time with her, the chorus of this song says that when he goes, they have to carry on and to don't feel the pain only smile.The other songs talk about rappers that were very importantfor him, as in the song "I need a doctor" talks about Dr.dre, Dr.dre was the only that bet for him when he started,tha fact that Eminem is white made that nobody trus on him, in a certain way without Dr.dre, Eminem wouldn't arrive so far, he was who teach him everything about rap, Obviously all this songs wouldn't be so popular without a good rhythm.
In his entire career Eminem has achieved ten number-one albums on the billboard 200. He had sold more than 42 millions tracks and 49,1 million albums in The United States, and 100 million albums worldwide. Apart from winning 13 Grammys he also won an Oscar for the best original song "Lose Yourself" on his own film "8 mile".
In my opinion Eminem it's the best rapper in history,because as I said his life has been always very difficult and nobody thought that he was going to be someone because he was white.He had to make a double effort and to overlap all the critca when he start with the music. I usually listen his songs and i love them,my favourite is "When I'm gone", and i think that someone who doesn't normally listen to rap, they would like Eminem songs.

I agree with you in everything you have said. There is no doubt Eminem is the best rapper alive but ,from my sight of view, there has been a lot of good rappers too early in the 90's like 2pac, Notorious B.I.G, Eazy E and a lot more, so what I am saying is that before Marshall was famous, a lot of good rappers made Hip Hop what is it nowadays so it is very difficult to decide wheter if Eminem is the best rapper of all history or not. I am completely sure that without Eminem rap would be different, not worse, but different because Eminem has been the inspiration of a lot of new rappers and because Eminem has made a brand new style out of rap, he has made people love Hip Hop and its beauty
ReplyDeleteFor me, Eminem is the best rapper alive and he will be forever my idol, but there is no way we could compare him to other rappers because we would be comparing different styles, and I would like to end this comment saying that Eminem is, in first place, the best rapper alive, as I have said several times, and in second place, one of the best rappers of all history.
I totally agree with what both of you have said, clearly we all think in the same way according to Eminem and his influence in rap. I also agree with Elena´s comment about the way in which Eminem´s songs are differente to other rapper´s, his songs show his own experiences, feelings and fears...things that he can only express throughout his music, and that is probably what makes them so special. When I hear Eminem´s songs I live the stories that they tell very closely, and that is why I normally get emotional when listening to any of his songs, because the voice, tone and melody of the song makes it so realistic that it creates and impact on yo when listening to it.
ReplyDeleteIt is true that Eminem is one of the most representative rappers of the moment, but I also agree with Dani in saying that there are other amazing rappers which can be as good as Eminem, but the songs are simply different.
Lastly I would like to say that one of the things that has motivated Eminem to fight for what he wants and becoming one of a kind has been his childhood. Eminem had a difficult childhood and saw all his family fail in all their attempts of glory,his father abandoned them when they were small and his mother was a drug addict. Eminem promised to himself that he would never end up like that and would fight for his dream, which was and still is, becoming the best world-known rapper.

ReplyDeleteEminem is of course one of the most representative rappers nowadays. His influence in "modern" rap is quite evident. However saying he´s the best rapper from all the history is a risky statement. Firstly, the concepts of good and bad are abstract concepts and depend strictly on each person. Secondly, comparing Eminem with all the rappers that grounded off in the nineties is quite a difficult task. Notorious BIG , 2Pac... are also great rappers which marked an era.
ReplyDeleteLike all good rappers, Eminem conveys to people strong feelings when hearing him. I totally can´t hide my admiration for him, but I do not think he´s the best rapper in the history. Although he may be the best in some aspects, comparing him with other out-standing rappers is wasting time. To give an example, comparing Eminem with Biggie Smalls is like comparing a Ferrari with a Lamborghini, both offer different advantages or aspects and at the same time both are considered top cars. However, there are those who specially admire Eminem because he´s marked a path to follow in which white people can rap also. He supposed a change in the rapping world as he was the first white rapper and he left racism apart from rap.
Concluding, Eminem will mark also an era. I totally agree with Dani: he´s the best rapper alive. What´s more, I dare to say I am convinced that he will become a legend with the pass of time.
I partly agree with most of the tings you have said. Although the background information of the singer is very important in order to understand the message he is trying to explain, I don’t that it should be considered, as you have said, one of the things which make the authors work more valuable as that would mean that someone who is rich could not become a singer as he would have not enough information to talk about society, I think what that fact affects is the different points of view through which the singer aims the meaning of the songs he writes or moreover, it would mean that once a singer has earned his fortune, he is not able to write more songs.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, although I agree with that fact that Eminem is the bet singer in the world, we should not say he is. Being the best singer in the world cannot be generalised in such a way, it depends on every person and the kind of music they like listening to. Who for me can be the best singer, for others could represent a disgrace towards music? It is possible…
So in conclusion I think we should try to say who “in our opinion” is the best musician in history.
