At last 1,524,000€

After being during 29 programs in Pasapalabra, César Garrido has finally managed to give an answer to each definition of the 25 letters in the alphabet. Surprisingly, he has won the biggest prize ever given in Telecinco, which is the amazing amount of 1,524,000€. The record there was before is almost half of this one, which was 85,200€, from the 23rd of February in 2011.

César is a journalist in a digital newspaper called “cuencahoy.info” and also a teacher. He expressed his intentions of spending some of the money in a journey somewhere around the world. In 2003, he also participated in the well-known television program “Saber y Ganar”, where he won 30,000€ after 56 programs.

Is this fake, or do they really know all of the words?

If it is, how can they train for this?

Is there effort and practice behind such a privileged mind or is it only good luck?

  1. Firstly I’d like to congratulate César Garrido for his triumph in the famous Telecinco program Pasapalabra. In my opinion, he totally deserved to win the biggest prize given because he had been working hard during several programmes, brushing the prize but always loosing it because of one or two words. I consider that, as well as proving his unquestionable talent at relating words with their specific definition in Pasapalabra, he also let us all astonished in Saber y Ganar.
Personally, I don’t think this programme is false because the amount of money they give is very high, because the programme itself has a reasonable level of difficulty. However, the money is not given entirely, as part of it is destined to taxes. I think that the people who participate must practice every day watching the programme and answering before they apply to form part of it. Also, the table game exists for people to practice, and you can also ask someone to ask you straight from the dictionary. After making the effort to practice, if you finally get chosen to go and participate, you have the opportunity to practice every programme if you win the opponent although you don’t achieve to answer the 25 letters correct.
As a conclusion, César Garrido has shown an effort on practicing and working to win the prize which, in my opinion, he totally deserves.

  2. Yesterday, I was watching the daily news and I was surprised when I saw that someone had deduced the 25 words of Pasapalabra. I had never heard of Cesar Garrido, as I don’t usually watch this program, but in my opinion behind this achievement I presume that there must be a person with a good memory and a high level of culture, and an amazing effort, as this program requires constant practice, and as we know, Cesar had already gone to Pasapalabra 28 times before winning the record of 1,524,000€.
I agree with Ana in the point that this program is not fake, as Cesar has gone to Pasapalabra 29 times and he has only guessed all of the words one time, which seem reasonably realistic as winning this program is not an easy task.
In my opinion, a good way of practicing for this program is by reading, as you acquire a wide range of vocabulary which is necessary for this program and, furthermore, practicing how to answer questions in a quick way is also a key to responding to the questions before the time runs out.
From my point of view, Cesar deserves this prize hugely as he had gone to 28 programs before winning the record, which takes a great deal of work and purpose.

  3. Certainly Cesar has won this huge amount of money for all his dedication, effort and work.Is true that this program sometimes luck is a very important factor that sometimes we don't value.Besides the luck, answering correctly 24 questions in 124 seconds is very difficult. Cesar was very quick for answering 24 questions in just 100 seconds where we can see in the video of Judith that Cesar has 24 seconds remaining.
On the other hand we can all agree that Cesar is the fair winner simply because he has been in pasapalabra for more than 25 programs!

  4. This is absolutely amazing! This man deserves this money because of his effort and his talent. How on earth does he know all this questions? And what's more, he has been more than 25 programs trying to make what a few days he did it. This is not luck, he's just a genius and I congratulate him. It's amazing how he answers all the question with that high speed and how he controls his impulsions and nerves when he answers the last questions.
More over, this man now has his life solucionated, and all because of his intelligence, preserverance and talent.
    Congratulations Cesar!

  5. I followed César along his trajectory for the amazing pot of 1,524,000€ and I think someone is not winning for 29 programs by luck, maybe in the last program, where he won, he had some luck in some answers but I continue thinking César is a genius because of completing all the 25 words. I think he has a privilege mind because not only he answered correctly the entire questions, he even had 28 seconds left!
I am happy because I think someone like César deserves this prize because he has been training a lot and making a lot of effort. Also he said he would give money to handicapped people, therefore I consider that he should be well-recognized by the media and by the society.

  6. I am not surprised at all! I have seen him in several programs and he did amazingly well each program and he did not win because of a word or two. It seems very easy but it is not. You must be very well prepared for this type of programs. At last all his effort and dedication has made him win a large amount of money. However, when Pasapalabra was in Antena 3, one person won more than 2 million euros. There are very few programs that give so much money. That is why we notice that Pasapalabra is very difficult to win. Nowadays they don't give so much money for nothing, they will try to do whatever they can in order to make the participant lose but sometimes people like César appear and you can't do anything but wait and see how he wins the money. I would not be able to participate in this type of program and this is why I admire him. Well done César!

  7. What an amazing award!!
Every now and then, when i'm at home, with nothing to work on or nothing to do, i switch on the television, and get stuck on this kinda programs such as Pasapalabra. I honestly think they're the only programs on our tv selection today which are at least more than educative. The one mentioned: Pasapalabra, is probably the famous one in Spain for the simple fact it is the oldest.
When actually watching at the whole program you think is far from impossible getting the whole bunch of questions correct, but it is obviously not!! Cesar Garrido is an example. This is not to be good at a subject of questions or another, but to have a broad and widespread culture because questions differ greatly in their response: historical questions, political, social, mathematical... So, to your question "is it fake, or do they really know all the answers?" my response is "they DO know all the answers!!". But, if you make and average you'll see the amount of persons who's gain that amount of money in those kinda programs is null!! Therefore, statistically, from all the spaniards we are, one of them, should be the "brightest": Cesar Garrido, which won the biggest price in the history of the program. Lucky? Non of that....general culture, and specially, a huge concentrating capacity.

  8. 29 programs won. 24 seconds left 1,524,000 € won.

César Garrido is, without a doubt, an intelligent person, but I wouldn't go as far to say a privileged mind. No matter how high your IQ is, if you have no general knowledge you simply can't win. You have to be intelligent, of course, but you also have to have widespread knowledge.

I don't think that it's fake, because I sincerely doubt that Telecinco would want to give over one and a half million euros away. I think that if a person watches this program every day, they develop an aptitude for the questions, which makes it easier for them to win.

In conclusion, I believe that Garrido is, without a doubt, a very intelligent person, but that he also has a lot of general knowledge and natural aptitude for answering these sort of questions, as he proved in 'Saber y Ganar'.
