So that was an exciting match wasn't it?
Personally, I think that it was a great advert for football and that both teams played football the way it was meant to be played. Barça as always played breath-taking possesion football, but perhaps lacked a cutting edge when through on goal. Arsenal on the other hand played well and managed to ride the inevitable Barça pressure. Although, they didn't stop there and came out fighting in the second-half with an assured and eye-catching display. Arsenal came out and played football and got there just rewards as Van Persie and Arshavin got the goals that cancelled out David Villa's opener.
Some of the post-match comments made by some of the partisan journalists and commentators is frankly disappointing as I believe in respecting your opposition. The fact of the matter is that Arsenal won the game and deservedly so, and Barça (along with it's fans) have to respect that Arsenal beat them not the referee or their own team. As far as the referee is concerned they will never be perfect (till goal-line technology is introduced!) and I don't think there was much to complain about. Arsenal still have a lot to do but they have the belief and Barça have the obligation to turn the game around and produce a convincing display.
However, this was a great game that deserves an even better return leg. It is all set for a classic on the 8th of March with Barça needing to go out and win the game and Arsenal having renewed confidence in themselves and their counter-attacking threat.
So, can Barça turn it around or will Arsenal hold on to a slender lead?
What did you think of the match last-night? Arsenal's performance? Barça's?
And what are your thoughts on the issue of biased, partisan journalism distorting reality?

WHAT A GRAT MATCH!these matches are the ones that make millions of people enjoy footbal.Yesterdays match was electrifying, the whole of it.It started good for Barça because Villa scored vrey early but Arsenal is not a good team,is one of the gratest so anybody couldn't be relaxed because Walcott or anyone can score a goal in a flash.
ReplyDeleteBarça's perfomance was normal, great but his normal level, this Barça is one step ahead from the other teams, but this team is still human(although it doesn´t look like it) and can make mistakes. It's normal, no one wins easily in the Emirates Stadium,so I think it´s a good score.
Arsenals perfomance in the second part was perfect, simply perfect. Like most teams do,if Barça is winning they just give up and stop fighting,Arsenal never stop fighting and they won,so Arsenal's atittude is exemplary for many teams.
I hope the next match is as vibrating and magnetic as the first one and that Barça ends winning!!Long live to Messi.

Me as a Barcelona fan I think that it will be difficult and we will suffer, but we will play the quarter-final season because FCBarcelona never gaved us reasons to be pesimists.
ReplyDeleteAbout the match last-night as a neutral point of view I think that FCBarcelona deserved winning but in Champions league you can never trust a match either one team is superior than an other. It was a really good match because it was between Arsenal and FCBarcelona, the two teams that play the most direct and marvelous football in Europe. Arsenal last-night match, was really serious and offensive and at the end of the match they had that luck that you always need, so they ended up winning the match.
Barcelona match was also rellay correct but what we needed was a bit of luck at ending our occasions and quite more concentration in defence.
In conclusion, my thoughts are that FCBarcelona will continue its road to Wembley 2011 by eliminating Arsenal in a difficult challenge the next 8th of March.

FCBarcelona would pass to quarter finals with any problem because we are the best team in the entire world. We are the team that create the most extraordinary football and nearly anybody can win us, except when the referee is against us. If their were well prepared referees, FCBarcelona would win every single match.
ReplyDeleteAbout the match, it was spectacular. Barça was superior (like always) at all moments but Arsenal’s team did know how to win this magnificent team. Moreover, Arsenal and the referee played a very good match. Arsenal scored two goals and Barça scored one, so this result is confusing because even though Arsenal has win, Barça has scored one goal in their pitch and this is favorable because now we play in our pitch, with our fans and the presion would be enormous, so it would be very difficult that Arsenal passes round.
To conclude, FCBarcelona s would pass the round. The unique problem would be the referee that is the only one that can penalize Barça, like he did in the first match that was been played one week ago.
