How do you feel about what he says and how he says it? Does he deserve the criticism that he has received?

Millions will lose their money
This video is causing waves. A broker from the UK says what everyone has been thinking, but has been afraid to put into words. Listen. It is frightening. He is frightening.

Troy Davis
"For those about to take my life, may God have mercy on your souls. May God bless your souls.
"All I can ask... is that you look deeper into this case so that you really can finally see the truth. I ask my family and friends to continue to fight this fight."
With these words, Troy Davis settled back into his chair and received an injection of a lethal coctail of drugs. He was was pronounced dead at 23:08 in the state of Georgia (04:08 Thursday, our time), 15 minutes after the lethal injection began. A black man convicted of having killed a white policeman in the deep south of the USA on the basis of partial evidence and retracted confessions, Davis could have been the main character of a novel written about racism fifty years ago. But his death is real. You can read more about the case here.
What is your opinion about the death penalty and death row?

Misunderstood?
Is Mourinho the victim of malicious and biased media-coverage? Or is he simply a bad-loser? First there was the Pujol slap and now there is the Tito poke. Just what is Mourinho up to?
Burqua?
An affront to women's rights? Bad manners? Personal choice?
There are various points of view about wearing the Islamic veil (of which there are various kinds). One argument is that it's a question of religious tolerance. The counter-argument is that the veil limits the freedom of women to express themselves and is a symbol of repression and discrimination. This video summarises these and other points of view. What's yours?

Call me!
How often are our last words to our loved one, "Call me!" as we go our separate ways?
You may want to think twice before uttering the phrase in the future: today's La Vanguardia carried the story of a Dutch woman who called her ex-lover 65,000 times a year (that's 178 times a day).
As we grow up, we are constantly bombarded with phrases like, "Keep it up!" or "Give it your all!" and, "Don't give up!". This woman appears to have taken the advice literally. Are we better off ignoring it or should we follow her example?
I mean, if you loved someone and they left you, just how far would you go to get them back before calling it a day? And if you were on the receiving end, just how much would you put up before calling in the professionals - whether the police or the psychiatrists?

Barrier or protection?
Will a wall (or fence) keep danger out or simply bottle-up people's anger and frustration?
They've been tried throughout history and are currently constructed close to borders in Palestine, the United States and Ceuta-Melilla to name just a few places. In your opinion, have they or do they ever work? Are they justified or unacceptable?
Here is some footage of the wall in Palestine - the first 4 minutes is enough to get the idea of its effect.
And here, if you are interested, in one artist's reaction. Have you heard of Banksy? He's all the rage in the UK and the USA at the moment. It's worth doing an image search for his graffiti.

SKI FLYING
Hi ! Today my post is about ski jumping. Most of us understand by ski jumping freestyle ski jumping , where rotations in the air , grabs and style is the most important , but the one I am going to talk about today is the sport in which skiers go down a take-off ramp and jump trying to land as far as they can.
The following video is about a Norwegian ski jumper , called Johan Remen who on the 11th February 2011, made the world's longest ski jump with 246,5 meters in the ski flying qualification round at Vikersund, Norway.

Here is another camera angle:

The following day , he won his first world cup competition in the main event. For me it is fascinating how someone can jump so high and long with so much speed and skis about 260 cm long .
My questions are :
Did you at first thought it was fake? - ( I did , i could not belive that till I saw the second video.)
Do you think this requires lots of training , or is it just a matter of having what it takes to take this kind of jumps?
How does the ski jumper might be feeling when 'flying'?
Is this the limit or do you think someday someone will manage to go over this record?

Worth it?
After a tiring ten days of study, I'm sure you've asked yourself more than once if it all is 'worth it'.
Exams. Sixth Form. School.
Does the effort pay off? Or is it simply a question of what grade you get?
In fact, are grades all you get out of it? Was there not anything that was worth doing in itself? Or anything you'll remember... for the right reasons or the wrong ones!
This post is an invitation for nostalgic reminiscing, (careful) complaining, or even for some suggestions for future changes to our much-loved 1st batx course content. Fire away!

Song of the summer?
Estrella Damm has recently broadcast the summer advert that they have have created every year for the past three years now. It's no longer set in the Balearic islands, but instead it's located in "El Bullí", Cadaqués, Figueres..., providing propaganda for the Catalunya of Dalí and Ferrán Adrià.
Many people believe that the previous advertisements set in Formentera and Menorca were much better than this one, so I wanted to know the general opinion of people in the school!
- Do you like the song? Is it catchy? Are the lyrics worse or better than before?
- What impression of the backgorund of Catalunya do you get? Is it too propagandistic?
- What about the story of the people in the video? Do you think it's original?

TOLERABLE?

This May 27th has been a memorable day for those demonstrators at Plaza Catalunya who were protesting against the "false democracy" we have in our country. This morning the "mossos d'esquadra" came and forced the demonstrators to leave. People didn't want to leave, and the "mossos" told they had to clean up the area because it hadn't been cleaned up since the demonstration started two weeks ago. Many of them have resisted, so the "mossos" had to use violence. A ruffle started and became a fight between the "mossos" and the demonstrators, ending up with 121 injured, 37 of which were "mossos".

Is this the way "Mossos d'esquadra" had to act?
Are demonstrators demonstrating in a correct way? Is there another way of demonstrating against our democracy?
Who's fault is this?
How can we solve this problem?
Here you have a video of what happened:
