UEFA has announced that its Betting Fraud Detection System has not yet shown any irregular betting information to justify an investigation into Lyon's 7-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Champions League.
To finish second and pass to the next round, Lyon needed to beat Dinamo Zagreb and for Ajax to lose with Real Madrid with a seven-goal diference in their favour. Lyon emerged 7-1 victors while Ajax were beaten 3-0.
Ajax loosed against Madrid very strangely, 2 goals were badly canceled to Ajax by the referee, while Lyon scored 5 "strange" goals in 28 minutes.
Also a photo has been taken by a journalist in which Zagreb's defenser has made a wink to Gomis after his goal.
After all this Ajax's coach says an ispection should be done, because this match seems strange.

What do you think - has their been any underhand play?

  1. Oh Jose! This is really shoking!! It is amazing that Lyon scored six goals in 28 minutes. I think there are very few teams capable of doing this but I don’t think Lyon is one of them. I really think the UEFA should investigate the case as the proof from the foto is enough. We clearly see the wink of the Dinamo player and this could be very suspicious. Anyway, the UEFA has decided not to interfier.

My opinion is that this is not normal and strict measures should be taken.

  2. I consider the situation of the wednesday's matchs' score very unlikely as it is unusal for a team to score 7 goals so quickly as 6 goles were scored in less than 45 minutes! It's also a weird coincidence that the Lyon team needed 7 goals to pass to the next round. In my opinion, UEFA organistaion should open an investigation to clarify any doubts, cheatings or even fraud if there were.

I consider this problem unfair as I'm sure that the Lyon team has payed or threatened the players of Dinamo Zagreb to win the match.Alhtough we can not relly on this statement as we have no proof yet, the image above could cause misunderstanding.

Jose , I really like your post. I think it was a good idea to do a post about football, specially about this argument.

  3. It is awful for the football to see this type of things and more on that the UEFA hasn’t investigated this as it seems quite a lot that the match was carried out in a very strange situations, you just have to see the wink of the player what strange it seems, although the wink could have been done for a different reason.
Jose, I don’t think that the Ajax result and the two canceled goals as a referee can commit a bad decision as it is been made every match as it is very difficult to actuate good in all the situations , but the 5 goals scored in 30 minutes it is a clear reason to investigate.
I found this notice quite shocking as I was watching the Ajax-real Madrid match and the narrator of the match was continue repeating every 2 minutes a new goal of Olympic and after I realized the story of the match.
