Love has no boundries... or so they say. It seems the Egyptian Ministry of Justice has established the limit according to the legal age gap between man and woman in marrriage, in order to protect youngsters. But shouldn't free will be taken into account? Well, in this case it's the parents who accepted, so, ultimately, it would appear the decision doesn't lie on her shoulders. The strong offer of riches and luxury does seem tempting, and who knows what difficult situation she could be in, but is it an excuse? Can we even judge? Should anyone judge?

I agree with both sides of this statement up to a point. In one side we see that this woman can’t choose who to be with for herself and this shouldn’t be this way. Everybody deserves to be with anyone they want to be with and I think the government shouldn’t put a limit of age difference between them or any other couple.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think these two should think in the consequences of being parents with this age difference between themselves. No child deserves neither to witness the death of his own father nor be held by only one parent, so I think they should re-consider.
In conclusion I think that they should be able to do whatever they want to do without the government annoying them, but they should think about the actions they do.
Personally, I find marriage between a 92-year-old and a 17-year-old slightly disturbing and believe it shouldn’t be allowed.
ReplyDeleteWhile it is true that, as some people commented above, love has no boundaries, or shouldn’t have, I do not believe it is love which holds couples with such age differences together, but interests, it all comes down to interests. In this case for instance, the 92 year old man has a sexual interest whereas the 17 year old, or, should I say, her parents, have an economical interest, they only consider the money the old man can provide the family with.
Therefore, I am pretty glad the ministry of justice has decided to ban this marriage given the fact that, while it may benefit the family of the young girl and satisfy the gruesome needs of the old man, the girl will certainly not enjoy the relationship.
Moreover, it should by all means, be her who decides on the marriage and should certainly not be obliged by her parents.
