A few weeks ago Jolie surprised the world with her astonishing public declarations where she informed she is carrier of BRCA1, a gene which dramatically increases the risk of suffering breast and ovarian cancer. After the complicated operation, her high chances of an exorbitant 87% of developing this type of cancer, reduced to only 5%.

Furthermore the actress has firmly stated most of her beloved ones and her sentimental partner, the recognized actor Brad Pitt, have always been by her side. Moreover she has had the support of many colleagues who applauded her difficult decision. On the other hand, some specialized surgeons affirm preventive mastectomy doesn’t guarantee survival.

Health is far more important than fame. After receiving those horrible news about the high probability of developing cancer, Angelina Jolie decided to have her breasts removed and is thinking of also removing her ovaries. It’s a tough decision to make as you are losing a great part of your body and it’s not certain that you won’t end up having cancer.
ReplyDeleteAngelina had to do what was best for her; she studied her options and finally decided that it was worth going through surgery instead of remaining with such high probabilities of developing breast cancer. However, she wasn’t alone, her friends and family and even her fans supported her during the hard times.
What’s more, as Angelina is extremely famous, she has also encouraged many other women in the same situation to do what’s best for their health. As I mentioned before, health comes first and you have to do anything you can to prevent such a horrible illness. After the surgery her chance of not having to face cancer was 95 % which is a huge number to attach you hopes to.
Known for her kindness, her goodness and her charm, now Angelina Jolie is also recognized for her bravery. She is going through a hard time in her life and she still appears every day with her head held high, with her beloved ones by her side, ready to fight against cancer.
From my point of view I find this fact totally astonishing. For someone as important worldwide as Angelina Jolie, i thing is something that show courage from somone. Not only impresive but also I think that is a very good way of preventing something so terrible as cancer, and even more if her mother had had it already.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think that the fact that she is such an important woman makes taking this decision even more complicated, as she knows everyone around the world would know it instantly. Besides, I think this is a dificoult decision to take, but if there is such a risk of developing this type of cancer I think I would do it. Maybe i’m saying this, as something really simple, but when someone tells you that you have such a high posibility of having cancer, you worry so much, it is not even easy to take it.
Angelina has shown that she is so brave to take something like this, and even if she has such a status, she is not only doing it for her onw benefit but she is also showing other woman, they have to be strong under this situations.
The help and support of her family are making this posible, taking into account the situation in which she is at the moment, where she is not the only problem, but also her mother. Angelina Jolie has shown us that even this can’t get her marvelous smile down.
