Manolo Preciado dies of a heart attack, aged 54

The Spanish manager Manolo Preciado, who was to be unveiled as the new manager of Villarreal on Friday, has died of a heart attack, aged 54.

It is an important lose for Spanish football fans as for many people he was a great person and a great coach.

Do you think in the Eurocup, Spain should remember him at the begining of the match with a silence minute?

  1. Manolo was a great coach and a very good person. He managed to save five different teams to ascend from second division to first division.
He lost his wife, who died from cancer, and his son, who died in a car accident. He said that he could have shot himself or he could look up to the sky and get stronger. He chose the second option. Life has hit him hard and he responded positively.
Also, he was about to be presented as the new manager of Villareal football club.

    R.I.P. Manolo Preciado

  2. As both Jose and Dani said, Preciado was a very well known person in the football world. The sudden death of the coach makes us feel the transience of life, how it changes in an instant. The unexpected heart attack lets us with a better taste, as we all have to be conscientious that at any moment, life can turn into darkness. Moreover, the loss of a football icon as he was, makes the empathic part of all of us stand out, as we look up to someone who has fought throughout his life, going through the obstacles he came across with.

In my opinion, not only everyone who is part of football, but every single one of the people who followed and loved him, should remember him as the decent person he was and make him be alive in their hearts.

Personally, I also think that, as an important Spanish coach, he should be devoted by the Spanish team in the first match of the European Cup. There should be a minute of silence in order to live up to Preciado’s reputation. It is exceptional to do so in a European competition, as the members of the Spanish team represent Spain’s marvelous football, being Preciado one of the essential pieces to achieve it.

  3. There are lots who dream of being an astronaut, others who dream of becoming a football player and many who dream of becoming a pop star. No matter which dream you have you will only make it true with determination, hard work and talent. Manolo Preciado was a clear example of such strength and commitment to what he believd to be his role in life. Preciado once dreamt of becoming a football player and he not only achieved it but he also became a top trainer. For having achieved his dream should he be already acclaimed and remembered. Many deceive along the tough paths of making a dream come true in life, but Manolo kept fighting, never gave up and eventually made his dream come true.

However, Preciado wasn’t only a football player, but he was also a loved father, husband and above all a successful trainer. Manolo Preciado managed to do what probably all of us envy, he managed to make thousands of people smile and give them hope and remmebered them that no matter how life treats you, if you never give up, you’ll eventually find light at the tunnel. Manolo Preciado decided to train Sporting de Gijón when they were in the 2nd Division and managed to bring it up to 1st Division. It might seem unimportant, but I can assure that he will be forever thank-given from Gijón’s supporters.

For being able to achieve his dream, to make thousands of people smileand simply for never giving up, Manolo will always be present in our hearts!

    REST IN PEACE MANOLO!

  4. It will be difficult to find such a person who symbolises the effort, commitment and straightforwardness with which Manolo Preciado has always lived with. As Dani Casas has suggested, he has clearly become an example of self-realization; when he was a kid he dreamt of becoming a football player, and he did so. Furthermore, he has even made himself a name between the most valuable football trainers in the Spanish leagues, demonstrating great charisma and unique personality.

As Dani Roura has previously said, life had not always been on his side; in a matter of years, he lost his wife, who suffered from cancer, and his elder son, who, unpredictably, had a car accident. Manolo Preciado’s reaction to this was to show to the world that he was strong enough to overcome these adversities which life provokes and stuck to his professional career and passion: football.

Professionally speaking, he managed to ascend up to five teams from the one division to the following one, for what he received undistinguishable appreciation and support from his team’s respective fans. It will also be undeniable the dedication he has offered to all of the clubs he has trained.

For all the reasons above, Manolo Preciado´s unexpected death is now mourned by all Spanish football fans, fact that demonstrates what such excellent person he was.

R.I.P MANOLO PRECIADO, YOU WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN OUR HEARTS.

  5. In my opinion, Manolo Preciado has been an important loose not only for Spanish football but for the values he transferred to the people when he talked. Manolo Preciado was a men who said always what he thought and wanted to do the things right.

As a trainer, Manolo achieved great things leading to various teams to the Spanish 1st division which is not easy job. Every knows that it is easy to train great players but being able to win so on with players who aren’t as good as the rivals is really prestigious.

I think that in the Eurocup Spain should remember him at some point of it because this trainer has been well known for everyone, has discussed and after been a friend of Mourinho (That it isn’t an easy job) and has transmitted lots of minutes of fun to all the supporters who followed his teams!

Manolo Preciado has been one of the best and most charismatic football coaches ever in Spain’s history and I think we should show him the respect he deserves, not only as a coach but as a great man. He has been an icon for many people and has made many football teams achieve the fame they deserved.

As we all know, life has hit him hard throughout the years with the death of his wife and son, but not even this has made him collapse or give up and this has proved he deserved a much better life.

So I think the least we can do to evidence that we respect him is remember him before every match in the Eurocup, not only in the Spanish matches but any match. Because death, although inevitable, is a very sad theme and much more if the age of the individual is considered “too low” for dying.

In conclusion, we should at least mention him before every match for being a very good person and for making so many people happy.

    Thank you Manolo!
